Ivison Guitars

Ivison Guitars is a small, boutique electric guitar company based in Worcestershire, UK. All Ivison guitars are hand built, one at a time, from raw lumber selection to the final hand buffed ‘vintage patina’ finish using the finest quality materials available and using traditional construction methods and techniques.

Ivison Hurricane

The Hurricane combines Neil Ivison’s favourite elements of the guitars that were being made at 225 Parsons St, Kalamazoo, Michigan in the late 50’s. Hand built by Ivison Guitars from Premium Honduran and African Mahogany with an AAA Grade Indian Rosewood fingerboard, an ABS bound & subtly carved Eastern Maple flame top houses a matched ’59 PAF/P90 set of Sunbear Pickups, hand wound for us in the UK to sound as close as possible to an original 50’s spec pickup. Featuring a one piece, Old Growth Honduran Mahogany neck with a profile hand carved with templates taken directly from a 1956 guitar. Genuine 50’s celluloid dots are used and the fingerboard edges are lightly rolled so it feels like a neck that has been played for years. Finished with vintage correct aniline dyes in vintage formulated nitro-cellulose lacquer then faded and lightly aged, the Hurricane is designed to look, feel, sound and inspire like guitar from the 50’s but behave like the modern, boutique handcrafted guitar it is.

Ivison Hurricane '59

In part of Ivison Guitars ongoing quest toward classic late 50’s tone, the Hurricane ’59 takes the Hurricane shape, utilises 50’s construction techniques, adds some familiar ’59 appointments and edges ever closer to the hallowed ‘Burst’ spec. Hand built from Premium Honduran and African Mahogany with an AAA Grade Indian Rosewood fingerboard, an ABS bound & beautifully hand-carved Eastern Maple flame top with a set of ’59 PAF Sunbear Pickups, hand wound for us in the UK. The result is a guitar that delivers the quality, soul and sound of a 1959 Burst, at a fraction of the price of the original (if you can find one)!
