Description
Here’s a very cool and rare Ibanez/Antoria Deluxe 59er “Sunlight Special” Les Paul copy, made in Japan at the renowned Ibanez FugiGen Gakki Factory in 1978. Ash topped mahogany body with a Tinted Ivory finish, and a full feeling maple bolt-on neck, this guitar plays very nicely indeed. There are a few chips to edges giving a bit of natural relic-ing, and small neck pocket finish crack but completely sound, all original and in excellent overall condition for its 44 years. This is an Ibanez 2342 IV Deluxe 59er rebranded with the mark of Ibanez subsidiary Antoria, presumably to be able to sell off remaining stock in the wake of the well known Lawsuit in the Seventies. The specification is identical to the Ibanez Deluxe 59er used by Paul Gilbert and Jimi Kidd on the iconic album “Raw Blues Power”. Its “Super 70s” humbuckers also are renowned in their own right, in particular as the pickup that EVH used in slightly modded form on the groundbreaking instrumental “Eruption”. Comes with a brown faux alligator hardshell case.
